What's New
The Corvette carries into 2007 with only minor changes. The available Bose audio system has been upgraded with features like steering wheel-mounted audio controls and satellite radio. Cross-drilled brake rotors are included with GM's Magnetic Selective Ride Control option. There's more room in the glovebox and enhanced acoustics for the Z06 2LZ option package to quiet the cabin. Other features available for 2007 include OnStar for the Z06 and two-tone modified seats with the Corvette crossed-flag embroidery and contrasting stitching. A power top is now included with the 3LT option package for the convertible. One new color choice-Atomic Orange Metallic Tintcoat-is available. The 2008 model will feature a new LS3 6.2-liter V-8 engine.

The Corvette remains one of America's best bang-for-the-buck models, and the venerable sports car continues to be offered in three trims: coupe, convertible, and the high-performance Z06 model. The C6 designation for the Corvette refers to the current, sixth-generation model, which has been in production since 2005. The current generation brings back some styling elements from the past, including exposed headlights that haven't been seen on a Corvette for over 40 years. Overall, the exterior has been shaped and sculpted to look more proportional than the C5 body. Under the hood of the Corvette is a 6.0-liter LS2 V-8 powerplant that makes 400 hp and 400 lb.-ft. of torque. The Z06 gets the massive 7.0-liter LS7 V-8 that produces 505 hp and 470 lb.-ft. of torque. Both engines feature an overhead valve design.

Besides its powerful engines, another Corvette strongpoint is the vehicle's handling characteristics. There are three different suspension choices, including Magnetic Selective Ride Control that can actually read the road surface and adjust the shock rates to instantly react to that surface. A Z51 Performance Package changes the suspension to a stiffer setup for those who want to participate in weekend track competitions. Large 18-inch front and 19-inch rear tires complete the Corvette's performance setup.

Just because the 2-door Corvette is designed for performance doesn't mean it's devoid of creature comforts. Standard are leather seats, air conditioning, cruise control, carpeted floormats, power locks/windows/mirrors, keyless access with pushbutton start, a tire-pressure-monitoring system, and an AM/FM/CD audio system.
