Overview

The Chevrolet Colorado is a midsize pickup truck. Launched in 2004, the Colorado is nearly identical to the GMC Canyon. Interestingly, the same platform was also used by GM for its Hummer H3 SUV. The current Colorado is still in its first generation. The 2011 Chevrolet Colorado lineup includes Work Truck (WT) and LT models. There are only minor changes to the Colorado for 2011.

The 2011 Chevrolet Colorado is offered in regular, extended and crew cab configurations, with a 5- or 6-foot pickup bed, depending on trim level. It seats up to 6 passengers. In addition to the aforementioned work truck, there are three trim levels: LT1, LT2, and LT3. Standard Colorado LT1 models are fitted with deluxe cloth upholstery, air conditioning, privacy glass, audio system with CD/MP3 player and satellite radio, 16-inch alloy wheels, and more. The Colorado LT2 is upgraded with amenities such as full power accessories, sliding rear window, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The Colorado LT3 adds front bucket seats, floor console, and 18-inch alloy wheels. Major options on the 2011 Chevrolet Colorado include leather-trimmed upholstery for crew cabs, towing package, assist steps, and chrome accessories. An optional Z71 Off-Road package increases ground clearance, and adds skid plates and a locking differential on 4-wheel-drive (4WD) models. There is also a ZQ8 package, designed for on-road use, with a lowered suspension, upgraded shocks, and 18-inch wheels.

The 2011 Chevrolet Colorado is offered with three different engines. The standard powerplant is a 2.9-liter 4-cylinder engine rated at 185 horsepower. Chevrolet also offers a 3.7-liter 5-cylinder engine rated at 242 horsepower or a 5.3-liter V-8 rated at 300 horsepower. The standard transmission is a 5-speed manual, with a 4-speed automatic available. In regular configuration, the Colorado is rear-wheel drive (2WD). However, 4WD is optional. When properly equipped, the 2011 Chevrolet Colorado is able to tow 6000 pounds, according to the automaker. The EPA rates the fuel economy of the 2011 Chevrolet Colorado between 14 mpg city and 25 mpg highway, depending on powertrain.

The 2011 Chevrolet Colorado starts at a base price of around $17,500, and the model range tops out with the Colorado Crew Cab LT3, which starts at around $28,000.
