Overview

The Cadillac Escalade ESV is a full-size sport utility vehicle that was first introduced in 2003 as a long-wheelbase variant of the Cadillac Escalade, which was launched 4 years prior. The Escalade ESV shares platforms with the Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon XL, and like those models it is designed to seat up to 8 passengers. For the 2011 model year, a maintenance package is now standard, there is new noise-reducing interior glass, and the navigation system has been improved.

The 2011 Cadillac Escalade ESV is sold in four trim levels: Standard, Luxury, Premium, and Platinum. The cabin of the Escalade ESV is normally configured for 7 passengers, but an optional second-row bench seat allows for 8-passenger seating. Standard equipment on the 2010 Cadillac Escalade ESV includes leather upholstery, air conditioning with automatic 3-zone control, power-adjustable pedals, power tailgate, Xenon headlamps, heated first- and second-row seats, Bluetooth phone connectivity, 18-inch alloy wheels, and more. The Luxury trim is upgraded with automatic high-beam headlights, blind-spot warning, active suspension, sunroof, power-operated folding second-row seats, 22-inch chrome wheels, and other luxury appointments. The Premium trim adds power-retractable running boards and rear-seat DVD entertainment, while the Escalade ESV Platinum is fitted with unique cosmetic touches, upgraded leather upholstery, upgraded infotainment, and more.

Unlike the standard Escalade, which is sold in both gasoline and hybrid variants, the 2011 Cadillac Escalade ESV is offered with one standard gasoline power plant. The engine is a 6.2-liter 8-cylinder, rated at 403 horsepower and mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive (2WD) is standard, with all-wheel drive (AWD) optional on all trim levels. The AWD system on the Escalade ESV is optimized for inclement weather, Cadillac says. Without a dedicated low-range gearbox, and considering the ESV's limited ground clearance and large wheels, serious off-road travel is not recommended, the maker says. The EPA rates the fuel economy of the 2011 Cadillac Escalade ESV between 13 mpg city and 18 mpg highway, depending on driveline. The engine is capable of running on E85 ethanol, but fuel economy and power are reduced.

The 2011 Cadillac Escalade ESV 2WD starts at a base price of around $64,000 and tops out with the ESV Platinum AWD, which starts at around $86,000.
