Overview

The Cadillac DTS carries over for 2010 without significant change. Two new color choices are added for 2010 and the ultra-luxury DTS Platinum Edition returns-loaded with premium features and special paint options. Of note, Cadillac introduced a possible replacement for the DTS-the XTS Platinum Concept-at the 2010 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

  • Two new exterior colors: Vanilla Latte and Tuscan Bronze ChromaFlair

Introduced in 2006, the Cadillac DTS effectively replaced the DeVille as Cadillac's standard large luxury sedan. The DTS is now Cadillac's flagship model-a new iteration of a model that's been associated with Cadillac since the mid-1950s. The 2010 DTS is very similar to the 2009 version, but the Performance trim level has been discontinued.

The 2010 Cadillac DTS combines conservative design with high-tech amenities, according to the automaker. The DTS is available in four trim levels: Base, Luxury, Premium, and Platinum. Seventeen-inch alloy wheels are standard, along with xenon headlights, front foglights, remote engine start, dual-zone climate control, leather upholstery, and power front seats. Higher trim levels offer upgrades to the wheels, climate control system, seats, steering wheel, and sound system. A DVD-based navigation system is included in the Premium level. The Platinum trim includes a more powerful V8 engine, Alcantara headliner, and added safety features.

All trim levels of the 2010 DTS include a 4.6-liter V8 engine that's designed to run on regular-grade fuel. The basic powertrain makes 275 hp and 295 lb.-ft. of torque, while the enhanced engine in the Platinum trim makes 292 hp and 288 lb.-ft. of torque. The base engine offers 15 mpg in city driving, 23 mpg on the highway, and 18 mpg combined, according to EPA estimates.

Standard safety features include antilock disc brakes, electronic stability control, side-impact airbags for the front seat, and side curtain airbags. In NHTSA crash tests, the 2010 DTS received five stars for the driver side and four stars for the passenger side in front impact collisions, while it earned four stars in side impact tests. The IIHS gave the DTS a "Good" rating for frontal-offset crashes and "Acceptable" for side impact.

Base MSRP for the 2010 DTS ranges from $46,280 to $59,475.
