  • Vsport trim level
  • New exterior paint colors: Red Obsession Tintcoat, Majestic Plum Metallic, Mocha Steel Metallic, Phantom Gray Metallic

Introduction
Cadillac has completely redesigned its CTS sedan for the 2014 model year, though the coupe and wagon models have been carried over largely unchanged (V-Series variants are covered in a separate overview). CTS buyers have the choice of multiple powertrains, rear-wheel-drive (RWD) or all-wheel-drive (AWD) capability, and several different trim levels. Competitors include the Audi A6, BMW 4 Series and 5 Series, Lexus GS, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and E-Class, Lincoln MKS, and the Infiniti M.

Models and Features
Car shoppers interested in the all-new 2014 Cadillac CTS sedan have the choice of three models--2.0L Turbo, 3.6L, and 3.6L Twin Turbo--that are available in Standard (2.0L Turbo only), Luxury, Performance, Premium, Vsport (3.6L Twin turbo only), and Vsport Premium trim levels. Equipment found on the CTS Standard includes the company's CUE infotainment system with an 8-inch screen and premium audio, push-button start, power front seats with 8-way adjustment, active grille shutters for improved aerodynamics and fuel efficiency, and rear park-assist sensors. The CTS Luxury adds leather upholstery, heated and cooled front seats, heated power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, and a split-folding rear seat. Luxury models also boast several desirable safety systems, such as forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, rearview camera, rear cross-traffic alert, side blind-zone alert, and adaptive headlights.

Next is the CTS Performance model, differentiated by its heated rear seats, tri-zone automatic climate control, head-up display, navigation system, sunroof, front park-assist sensors, and illuminated door sills and handles. Standard items reserved for the Premium variant include power front seats with 20-way adjustment, 12.3-inch customizable gauge cluster, intelligent cruise control, aluminum foot pedals, advanced security system, and an extra degree of safety with upgrades like automatic braking. The CTS Vsport models largely mimic the Performance and Premium variants in terms of features, but power and performance are enhanced.

Cadillac has a similar setup for the 2014 CTS coupe, which features base, Performance, and Premium trim levels. The CTS wagon is offered in Luxury, Performance, and Premium trims.

Options and Packages
As is typical, many of the items included as standard equipment on the CTS' higher trim levels are optional on the less expensive variants. Of course, there are also features that are strictly optional, including upgraded wheels and summer tires, carbon-fiber and wood trim kits, performance brakes, blue leather interior package (coupe), and Recaro sport seats (coupe and wagon).

Under the Hood
As part of its redesign, the 2014 Cadillac CTS sedan now features a standard turbocharged, direct-injection, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 272 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft. of torque, output that's directed to the rear or all four wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The CTS wagon's base engine is a direct-injection 3.0-liter V-6 that generates 270 horsepower and 223 lb.-ft. of torque, which, again, is controlled by a 6-speed automatic.

Standard on the CTS coupe and offered as an upgrade on the wagon is a 3.6-liter V-6 that delivers 318 horsepower and 275 lb.-ft. of torque, and is paired with the 6-speed transmission. The redesigned 2014 CTS sedan is also available with this engine, though it has been tuned to deliver 321 horsepower and works with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

For the new CTS Vsport, engineers added twin turbochargers to the 3.6-liter V-6, the end result being 420 horsepower and 430 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine is not available with the AWD system.
