What's New for 2013:
- Compact entry-level luxury sport sedan
- Range of engines and transmissions
- Rear- or all-wheel drive
Exterior FeaturesThe all-new Cadillac ATS competes with the Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, Lexus IS and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Cadillac offers the 2013 ATS in Standard, Luxury, Performance, and Premium trims, and says the ATS represents a "new expression of Art & Science" design. Standard equipment includes 17-inch aluminum wheels, LED running lights and taillights, and active grille shutters for reduced aerodynamic drag and better fuel economy.
Interior FeaturesCadillac offers a wide variety of color combinations and materials for the ATS, including three colors for the standard leather, combined with genuine wood, metal plating, or carbon fiber. The trunk measures 10.2 cubic feet.
Optional FeaturesCadillac User Experience (CUE) integrates up to 10 mobile devices via Bluetooth, includes a USB port and auxiliary input jack, provides an SD card slot, and allows control over functions through an 8-inch color touch-capacitive LCD screen. Additional options include 18-inch aluminum wheels, performance seats, configurable full-color head-up display, navigation, Bose Cabin Surround audio system, keyless access entry with push-button starting, heated front seats and steering wheel, power sunroof, and more.
Under the HoodThree different direct-injection engines are offered for the new ATS. A 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine is included in Standard and Luxury trims. It creates 200 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and 188 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,500 rpm.
A 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder is available on all trims. It generates 270 horsepower at 5,300 rpm and 260 lb.-ft. of torque at 2,400 rpm. Premium fuel is recommended by Cadillac.
The optional 3.6-liter V-6 engine delivers 320 horsepower at 6,800 rpm and 267 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,900 rpm. It is available on all trims except the ATS Standard.
A 6-speed manual transmission is included on all ATS models. Optional is a 6-speed automatic transmission with available paddle shifters. The ATS is rear-wheel drive (RWD); an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system is available.
Brembo brakes are included on all except the Standard trim. An optional sport suspension includes Magnetic Ride Control with real-time damping.
Fuel EconomyThe EPA had not established fuel-economy estimates for the ATS when this overview was written.
SafetyEvery 2013 ATS has 8 air bags, 4-wheel-disc anti-lock brakes with dynamic rear proportioning, traction and stability control, and one year of free OnStar service including automatic crash response.
Options include rain-sensing wipers, rear-seat side-impact air bags, front and rear park assist, and a reversing camera. More sophisticated safety systems are also available, including full-speed-range adaptive cruise control, forward collision alert, intelligent brake assist with Brake Pre-fill Automatic Collision Preparation, front and rear automatic brakes, lane-departure warning, side blind-zone alert, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive forward lighting, and a Safety Alert Seat, which vibrates the driver's seat bottom on either side to warn of potential dangers while driving and parking.
