The Lucerne, Buick's flagship sedan, was introduced for the 2006 model year to replace the Park Avenue and the LeSabre models. The 2011 Lucerne is a luxury 6-seater that borrows performance features from other premium GM cars, including a Cadillac engine and the Chevrolet Corvette's suspension system. For 2011, a few tweaks have been made to the menu of features, and a new sound system has been added.

The 2011 Buick Lucerne comes in four trim levels. The base model, CX, has 17-inch alloy wheels, cloth upholstery, air conditioning, cruise control, automatic headlights, and a 6-speaker sound system. Automatic dual-zone climate control and Bluetooth connectivity are optional. The CXL trim steps up to leather upholstery, heated power front seats and steering wheel, and an optional Driver Confidence package. The CXL Premium trim adds that package as standard, as well as more safety features and an upgraded sound system. The Super trim has a V-8 engine, 18-inch chrome wheels, power sunroof, ventilated front seats, a touch-screen navigation system, and perforated leather/faux suede upholstery.

The 2011 Buick Lucerne CX and CXL variants feature a 227-horsepower, 3.9-liter V-6 engine that delivers 17 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway, according to the EPA. The Lucerne Super provides a 292-horsepower, 4.6-liter Northstar V-8 engine that delivers 15 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. All 2011 Lucerne models feature front-wheel drive and a 4-speed automatic transmission.

Standard safety features on all 2011 Buick Lucernes include 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, traction control, stability control, front side air bags, and side curtain air bags. The Lucerne Premium trim adds blind-spot and lane-departure warning systems. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the Lucerne the highest-possible "Good" rating in frontal-offset crash tests and an "Acceptable" rating in side-impact crash protection.

Starting MSRPs for the 2011 Buick Lucerne ranged from $29,730 to $44,460.
