Exterior Features
The 2012 BMW Z4 is a 2-seat roadster with a power-retractable hardtop that tucks into the trunk. The Z4 is available in three trim levels: sDrive28i, sDrive35i, and sDrive35is. The base model comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels.

Optional Features
BMW groups most of the Z4 roadster's options into packages, with the Cold Weather package adding heated seats and a heated steering wheel. The Premium Sound package includes a surround-sound audio system with satellite radio, while the Sport package includes sport seats, 18-inch wheels, and an adaptive suspension for the sDrive28i and sDrive35i models. Stand-alone options of note include wood interior trim, navigation system, and front and rear parking sensors.

SDrive35i models are available with a manual or a 7-speed automated dual-clutch manual (DCT) transmission, which is the only available transmission for the sDrive35is.
