Exterior FeaturesFor 2013, the BMW X6 receives a restyled front end with a new hood, new LED taillights, and freshened wheel designs. New paint colors include Orion Silver, Midnight Blue and Marrakesh Brown. A special set of 20-inch wheels with M-blue painted brake calipers (which are gold with the optional carbon ceramic brakes) distinguishes the X6 M, along with model-specific front and rear bumpers and a body kit.
Interior FeaturesThe 2013 BMW X6 xDrive35i is equipped with leather seats, real wood trim, dual-zone climate control, Bluetooth connectivity, and a stereo featuring HD radio, USB port, iPod connection, and a CD player. The X6 xDrive50i adds a navigation system and 20-way power multi-contour front seats. Vermillion Red standard leather and Ebony White premium extended leather are new for 2013, while the X6 M gains standard active sport seats.
Optional FeaturesNumerous option packages and extra-cost features are available for the 2013 X6. New for 2013 is the M Performance package, which adds horsepower, torque and a unique exterior appearance for the xDrive35i model.
Under the HoodThe 2013 BMW X6 xDrive35i is powered by a turbocharged, direct-injected, 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine making 300 horsepower and 300 lb.-ft. of torque. Peak torque is available from 1,300 to 5,000 rpm. Add the optional M Performance package and power figures rise to 315 horsepower and 330 lb.-ft.
A turbocharged, 4.4-liter V-8 engine is installed in the X6 xDrive50i, and generates 400 horsepower and 450 lb.-ft. of torque. The torque peaks between 1,750 and 4,500 rpm, and the horsepower peaks between 5,500 and 6,400 rpm.
Both engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission equipped with paddle shifters for manual gear changes, and both models are equipped with BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive system.
The X6 M model has a twin-turbocharged version of the 4.4-liter V-8, rated to supply 555 horsepower and 501 lb.-ft. of torque. A 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters handles power transfer to the xDrive AWD system.
Fuel EconomyEPA fuel-economy figures for the 2013 BMW X6 are:
- X6 xDrive35i: 16/23/19 mpg (city/highway/combined)
- X6 xDrive50i: 14/20/16 mpg
- X6 M: 12/17/14 mpg
SafetyTraction and stability control, 6 air bags, and an anti-lock braking system with cornering and dynamic brake control, brake fade compensation, brake drying, and brake standby are standard on the 2013 X6. Four free years of BMW Assist with Automatic Crash Notification service is also included. A top-down 360-degree view camera, lane-departure warning system, and active cruise control are optional.
