Exterior Features
The 2013 BMW X1 is a new subcompact crossover SUV, and is the least expensive BMW sold in the United States. It is offered in X1 sDrive28i, X1 xDrive28i, and X1 xDrive35i model series, with a choice between standard, xLine, Sport, and M Sport trim lines.

Standard equipment on the X1 sDrive28i includes 17-inch aluminum wheels, fog lights, roof rails, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights, and LED brake lights. The X1 xDrive28i offers standard all-wheel drive.

Interior Features
Inside, the 2013 BMW X1 sDrive28i and xDrive28i are equipped with leatherette upholstery, 8-way manually adjustable front seats, automatic climate control, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, Bluetooth connectivity, and an 8-speaker stereo with a CD/MP3 player, auxiliary audio input jack, USB/iPod connection, and HD Radio.

With the rear seat in use, the BMW X1 provides a minimum of 14.8 cubic feet of cargo space. Fold the rear seat, and the X1 holds 47.7 cubic feet of cargo.

Optional Features
The BMW X1 xDrive35i adds all-wheel drive, a more powerful turbocharged 6-cylinder engine, 18-inch aluminum wheels, adaptive xenon headlights with LED corona ring driving lights, headlight washers, panoramic sunroof, 8-way power front seats, and unique wood cabin trim. It also swaps the 8-speed automatic transmission for a 6-speed unit.

There are three extra-cost trim lines available: xLine, Sport and M Sport.

The X1 xLine is an off-road-themed trim line, equipped with matte silver grille, bumper and rocker panel trim, high gloss Dark Copper interior accents, Y-spoke 18-inch aluminum wheels, and exclusive leather and cabin trim selections.

The X1 Sport trim line adds double-spoke 18-inch aluminum wheels, 8-way power front sport seats, and high-gloss Black interior trim. The M Sport trim line includes an M Sport aerodynamic body kit, unique staggered-width 18-inch wheels wearing performance tires, sport suspension, Shadowline exterior trim, M Sport leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters, Anthracite headliner, and dark crosshatch aluminum cabin accents.

Individual options for the X1 are primarily grouped into packages. The Premium package adds Nevada leather, 8-way power front seats, Comfort Access keyless entry, panoramic sunroof, auto-dimming rearview mirror with compass, auto-dimming side mirrors, and a universal garage door opener. The Technology package contains a navigation system and BMW Assist telematics service with 4 free years of the Safety Plan. The Driver Assistance package provides a reversing camera and park-assist sensors. The Ultimate package contains all of these features.

BMW also offers X1 buyers a Cold Weather package (heated front seats, heated steering wheel, headlight washers) and a Lighting package (adaptive xenon headlights, LED corona-ring running lights, automatic high beam headlights, ambient cabin lighting).

Additional options include metallic paint, BMW Apps smartphone integration, 340-watt premium surround-sound audio system, and satellite radio.
