Overview

The Audi S6 is a midsize luxury sedan that emphasizes sporty performance. It shares a platform with the Audi A6, but employs a V-10 engine that it shares with the Lamborghini Gallardo. The S6 is now in its third generation, and the 2011 model is a carryover from the previous year. The S6 is known for the flowing curves of its design, as well as its distinctive grille and headlights.

The 2011 Audi S6 is available in a single trim, with various options, some of which are available at no extra cost. Nineteen-inch wheels with performance tires are standard (18-inch wheels are a free option), along with leather-covered sport seats (non-sport seats are also a free option) heated front and rear, a full range of power accessories (including 8-way adjustable front seats), keyless entry and ignition, dual-zone automatic climate control, automatic and adaptive Xenon headlights, running lights, sunroof, Bluetooth connectivity, a voice-activated navigation system, 13-speaker Bose surround-sound system, and much more. The trunk provides 16 cubic feet of cargo space, according to Audi. Curb weight is approximately 4500 pounds.

The standard power plant in the 2011 Audi S6 is a 435-horsepower, 5.2-liter V-10 engine that produces 398 lb.-ft. of torque and delivers 14 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway, according to the EPA. A 6-speed automatic transmission with manual shift controls is standard, as is Audi's proprietary all-wheel drive system.

Standard safety features on the 2011 Audi S6 include anti-lock disc brakes, traction and stability control, front side air bags, side curtain air bags, and front knee air bags. A blind-spot warning system is optional. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the S6 highest-possible "Good" ratings for front- and side-impact crash protection.

Starting MSRP for the 2011 Audi S6 at introduction was $76,100.
