New for 2010, a 211-horsepower, turbocharged 4-cylinder model joins the lineup as the "A5 2.0T" model, promising greater fuel efficiency and dropping the entry price by $4,700. Otherwise, Audi has only made minor changes to the A5/S5 for 2010. Trim designations now conform to the rest of the family's nomenclature, the third-generation MMI infotainment system is available, and several of the options have been repackaged or deleted.

The Audi S5 was introduced in 2008 as a V-8-powered performance coupe. The automaker still stresses dynamic performance in the 2010 model, but with more options and features. A soft-top cabriolet, powered by a supercharged V-6 powertrain with as much torque as the V-8 engine, is now available. Audi considers the S5's styling to be a major distinguishing factor compared to what it views as the primary competition: the BMW 335i and the Mercedes E550.
The 2010 Audi S5's base trim level includes standard 19-inch alloy wheels, sport suspension, panoramic sunroof, tri-zone automatic climate control, Nappa leather upholstery, split-folding rear seats, and other luxury features. Optional are a Bang & Olufsen sound system and a hard-drive-based navigation system. The Prestige trim includes upgraded sound and navigation systems as standard, and adds keyless entry/ignition, upgraded mirrors, and various optional safety features. A power-retractable soft top and wind blocker are standard on the cabriolet. Brushed aluminum trim and French-stitched leather are featured in the interior of the S5, and two front-seat choices are available: aggressive sport seats with side bolsters, or more conventional seats that can be heated or cooled.
The 2010 Audi S5 coupe uses a 4.2-liter V-8 engine that produces 354 horsepower and 325 lb.-ft. of torque. The supercharged V-6 engine in the cabriolet makes 333 horsepower and 325 lb.-ft. of torque. The cabriolet employs a 7-speed dual-clutch automated manual transmission, while the coupe offers a choice between a traditional 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic with manual shift control. EPA fuel-economy estimates for the coupe with the V-8 engine and manual transmission are 14 mpg city, 22 mpg highway, and 17 mpg combined. The V-6 cabriolet is rated at 17 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined.
Standard safety features on the 2010 Audi S5 include anti-lock brakes (with brake assist), stability and traction control, front-seat side air bags, and side curtain air bags. coupes have side curtain air bags, and cabriolets have active roll bars behind the seats.
When first introduced, the 2010 Audi S5 started at about $53,600.
