Exterior Features
The 2012 Audi R8 is a 2-door,mid-engine luxury supercar available in either coupe or soft-top convertible body style and offered in three trim levels. Nineteen-inch wheels and LED running lights are standard.

Interior Features
The 2012 Audi R8 carries 2 occupants and offers 3.5 cubic feet of trunk space. Standard amenities on the base 4.2 model include cruise control,automatic climate control,heated power seats,leather and suede upholstery,Bluetooth connectivity,and a 7-speaker audio system with CD changer and satellite radio. The higher 5.2 trim level adds a navigation system,upgraded Bang & Olufsen audio system,and iPod interface.

Optional Features
The 2012 Audi R8 is offered in a wide variety of option packages,as well as with stand-alone options.  The Carbon Fiber Sigma Exterior package adds a carbon-fiber front lower spoiler and diffuser,while the Titanium package provides such styling upgrades as black exhaust pipes,19-inch titanium-finish wheels with performance tires,and nappa leather upholstery. The Convenience package features front and rear parking sensors,rearview camera,hill-start assist,and power-folding and auto-dimming mirrors. Stand-alone options include LED headlights and carbon-ceramic brakes.

Under the Hood
The 2012 Audi R8 4.2 is equipped with a 4.2-liter V-8 engine rated at 430 horsepower,while the 5.2 model is fitted with a 5.2-liter V-10 that delivers 525 horsepower. While the R8 5.2 GT trim (available in coupe body style only) also is offered with a 5.2-liter V-10 engine,it delivers 560 horsepower. Every R8 features all-wheel drive and Audi's Magnetic Ride system. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard on R8 4.2 and 5.2 models,while a 6-speed automated manual (R tronic) transmission is optional. The 5.2 GT is offered with the R tronic transmission only.

Fuel Economy
EPA fuel-economy figures for the 2012 Audi R8 are:
•    R8 with 4.2-liter engine: 11-13/20-21/14-16 mpg (city/highway/combined)
•    R8 with 5.2-liter engine: 12-13/19/14-15 mpg

Safety
Standard safety features on the 2012 Audi R8 include side-impact air bags,knee air bags,and anti-lock brakes.

Neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has tested the 2012 Audi R8.
