Models and Features
Audi splits the Q5 lineup into Q5, Q5 Hybrid, and SQ5 model series. The Q5 is offered in Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige trim levels, with 2.0T, 3.0T, and 3.0 TDI powertrain designations. The SQ5 is offered only in Premium Plus and Prestige trim, while the Q5 Hybrid comes only with Prestige trim.

Key upgrades between Premium and Premium Plus versions include upgraded interior trim, heated front seats, memory for the driver's preferences, panoramic sunroof, and Audi Advanced Key passive entry and push-button engine starting.

Prestige trim adds a navigation system, Audi Connect services, premium 14-speaker audio system, HD Radio, Bluetooth streaming audio capability, dual SD card slots, satellite traffic information, and a color driver information system. The Prestige also has an S-Line appearance package as standard equipment, along with Audi Side Assist blind-spot monitoring, Audi Parking System Plus technology with a reversing camera and parking sensors on both ends of the vehicle, and adaptive headlights with headlight washers. A sport steering wheel and manual rear side window sunshades are also included with Prestige trim.

Under the Hood
A turbocharged, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine (2.0T) is standard for the Q5 Premium and Q5 Premium Plus versions of the Q5. It makes 220 horsepower from 4,450 rpm to 6,000 rpm, and the engine's peak 258 lb.-ft. of torque starts at 1,500 rpm and is available nearly to where peak horsepower kicks in. An 8-speed automatic transmission feeds the power to a standard Quattro all-wheel-drive (AWD) system.

Optional for the Q5 Premium Plus and standard for the Q5 Prestige, a supercharged, 3.0-liter V-6 engine (3.0T) generates 272 horsepower at 4,780 rpm and 295 lb.-ft. of torque starting at 2,150 rpm. It shares a transmission and Quattro AWD with the smaller turbocharged engine.

A turbocharged, 2.0-liter, diesel 4-cylinder engine (3.0 TDI) is an option for the Q5 Premium Plus and the Q5 Prestige. It, too, is paired with Quattro and an 8-speed automatic transmission, delivering 240 horsepower between 3,750 rpm and 4,000 rpm, as well as a robust 428 lb.-ft. of torque from 1,750 rpm to 2,250 rpm.

The Q5 Hybrid combines an electric assist motor powered by a Lithium-ion battery pack with the Q5's standard powertrain. Total combined output measures 245 horsepower.

The performance-oriented Audi SQ5 gets a tuned version of the supercharged 3.0-liter V-6, one massaged to make 354 horsepower between 6,000 rpm and 6,500 rpm, and 346 lb.-ft. of torque between 4,000 rpm and 4,500 rpm.

Fuel Economy
Choose a Q5 with a 2.0T engine and you can expect to get 20 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, according to the EPA. The Q5 Hybrid increases mileage to an EPA-rated 24 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. Alternatively, the Q5 with the 3.0 TDI engine is rated to get 24 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway.

Performance is the name of the game for the Q5's 3.0T engine, which the EPA says will produce 18 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. The more powerful SQ5 is expected to get 17 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.

Safety and Technology
For 2015, Audi has expanded availability of its Audi Connect services technology, which provides access to a Wi-Fi hotspot supporting up to eight different devices, voice-controlled Google local search, popular social media platforms, and more.

Additional technology highlights include an adaptive cruise control system with full stop-and-go capability, while safety features include optional rear side-impact air bags, a reversing camera, front and rear park-assist sensors, and Audi Side Assist blind-spot monitoring.
