The 2014 Audi Q5 is a compact luxury crossover SUV offered with a wide range of trim levels and powertrains. It competes primarily against the Acura RDX, BMW X3, Cadillac SRX, Infiniti QX70, Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, Lexus RX, Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class, and Volvo XC60.Models and Features
For 2014, a new performance-oriented SQ5 version of the Q5 debuts, and is covered in a separate overview. Remaining versions include the Q5 2.0T, Q5 3.0T, Q5 TDI, and the Q5 Hybrid. The Q5 2.0T is offered with Premium and Premium Plus trim, while the Q5 3.0T and Q5 TDI are available with Premium Plus and Prestige trim. The Q5 Hybrid is sold only with Prestige trim.
To the Q5 2.0T Premium model's standard equipment list, Premium Plus models add aluminum doorsill trim, heated front seats, power rear liftgate, power-folding and auto-dimming side mirrors, and an auto-dimming interior rearview mirror. Additionally, this trim package contains Audi Advanced Key passive entry with push-button ignition, panoramic sunroof, and Xenon Plus headlights with LED running lights. S-Line exterior trim is added for the Q5 3.0T Premium Plus, and headlamp washers are included for the Q5 3.0T and the Q5 TDI.
Audi Q5 models equipped with Prestige trim have adaptive headlights, Audi MMI Navigation Plus, Audi Connect services, Bluetooth streaming audio capability, a Bang & Olufsen premium audio system with HD Radio, Audi Side Assist blind-spot monitoring, park-assist sensors, reversing camera, heated and cooled cupholders, manual rear side window sunshades, and more.Options and Packages
In addition to metallic paint, extra-cost dashboard inlays, optional aluminum wheel designs, rear-seat side-impact air bags, and a rear-seat entertainment system, the Audi Q5 can be upgraded with several features, depending on the model series and trim package.
The Q5 2.0T Premium is offered with heated front seats, panoramic sunroof, and a Lighting package with Xenon Plus headlights and LED running lights. Get this version with Premium Plus trim, and the SUV can be fitted with 19-inch wheels, Audi Side Assist, Bang & Olufsen audio system, Sport Interior package, and Audi MMI Navigation Plus including park-assist sensors, a reversing camera, color driver information system, and HD Radio. Additionally, the 3.0T and TDI variants can be optioned with an S-Line Plus package including sportier trim, paddle shifters, an adaptive damping suspension, Audi Drive Select, and 20-inch wheels.
Depending on powertrain selection, Prestige models are exclusively available with a Driver Assist package (adaptive cruise control, Audi Drive Select, Dynamic Steering) and a Comfort package (perforated premium leather, extended leather treatment, ventilated front seats). Additionally, the Prestige is offered with the S-Line Plus package, Sport Interior package, and a set of 20-inch aluminum wheels.
Audi also provides the option of removing the panoramic sunroof from both the Premium Plus and Prestige models.Under the Hood
A turbocharged, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine delivering 220 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque is standard for the Q5 2.0T, while the Q5 3.0T is equipped with a supercharged, 3.0-liter V-6 engine generating 272 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft. of torque.
For 2014, a new Q5 TDI Clean Diesel model arrives. It features a turbocharged, 3.0-liter diesel V-6 developing 240 horsepower and 428 lb.-ft. of torque. Peak torque is available from 1,750 rpm to 2,250 rpm, and peak horsepower is available between 3,750 rpm and 4,000 rpm. Audi says it takes this SUV 6.5 seconds to accelerate to 60 mph, evenly splitting the difference between the Q5 2.0T and Q5 3.0T.
The Q5 Hybrid arrived for the 2013 model year, and continues with its turbocharged, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, electric assist motor, and Lithium-ion battery. Combined, these components produce 245 horsepower and 354 lb.-ft. of torque, getting the Q5 Hybrid to 60 mph in 6.8 seconds, according to Audi.
All versions of the 2014 Q5 are equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission and Quattro all-wheel drive as standard equipment.Fuel Economy
Across all powertrain choices, the 2014 Audi Q5 gets between 18 mpg in the city for the Q5 3.0T model and 31 mpg on the highway for the Q5 TDI model, according to the EPA. The ratings for combined driving are 21 mpg for the Q5 3.0T, 23 mpg for the Q5 2.0T, 26 mpg for the Q5 Hybrid, and 27 mpg for the Q5 TDI.Safety Ratings and Technology

Rear-seat side-impact air bags are optional on all Q5 models for 2014. With Premium Plus trim, the Q5 includes Audi Side Assist and can be equipped with park-assist sensors and a reversing camera. Choose the Prestige trim level to obtain safety features such as adaptive headlights and an optional Driver Assist package containing adaptive cruise control and Dynamic Steering.
