Exterior Features
The 2012 Audi A6 is a midsize luxury sedan available in five trim levels. Standard features on the A6 are 17-inch wheels, Audi Drive Select package (which includes adjustable modes for steering, throttle, and transmission), automatic headlights, heated mirrors, and a sunroof.
Interior Features
The 2012 Audi A6 features standard keyless ignition and entry, 3-zone automatic climate control, 8-way power front seats, lumbar adjustment, some leather upholstery, tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, Bluetooth connectivity, 10-speaker sound system, satellite radio, and iPod interface.
Optional Features
Trim level options on the 2012 Audi A6, which increase based on trim level, include 18-inch wheels, Xenon headlights, front and rear parking sensors, color information display, heated front seats, adaptive headlights, cornering lights, ambient LED cabin lighting, ventilated front seats, power-adjustable steering wheel, Bose audio system, Audi's proprietary in-car Internet connection, head-up display, LED headlights, night-vision assist, and blind-spot monitoring system.
Under the Hood
The 2012 Audi A6 comes standard with a 2.0-liter, turbocharged in; front-wheel drive; and a continuously variable automatic transmission. Also available is a 3.0-liter, supercharged V-6 engine delivering 310 horsepower, paired with all-wheel drive and an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Fuel Economy
EPA fuel-economy figures for the 2012 Audi A6 are:
- A6 with 2.0-liter engine: 25/33/28 mpg (city/highway/combined)
- A6 with 3.0-liter engine: 19/28/22 mpg
Safety
Standard safety equipment on the 2012 Audi A6 includes stability control and a battery of air bags. Optional are rear-seat side air bags; front and rear parking sensors; blind-spot monitoring system; and Audi's proprietary pre sense plus feature, which detects when a crash is imminent and activates brakes, according to the automaker.
To date, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has not tested the 2012 Audi A6. In tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Audi A6 received a "Good" rating--the Institute's highest--for front-, side-, and rear-impact crash protection and roof strength, and was named a "Top Safety Pick" for 2012.
