Exterior FeaturesThe 2013 Audi A5 is available as either a coupe or Cabriolet (convertible). Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige trim levels are offered. Standard equipment includes 18-inch aluminum wheels and fog lights.
Interior FeaturesThe 2013 Audi A5 is equipped with leather seats, power front seats, and a triple-zone automatic climate control system, along with a power sunroof (coupe), or a standard windblocker (convertible) that can be used to reduce cabin buffeting with the top down.
Optional FeaturesThe Premium Plus trim features Bluetooth connectivity, iPod connection for the stereo, Homelink universal remote, and auto-dimming rearview mirrors. Front seats and side mirrors are heated, and the Premium Plus also has xenon-plus headlights with LED running lights and LED taillights.
The Prestige trim includes a Bang & Olufsen premium audio system, keyless entry and push-button ignition, adaptive headlights, and blind-spot monitoring. Also included are an Audi MMI Navigation Plus system with Bluetooth streaming audio capability, rear park-assist sensors, and a reversing camera. Models with Audi MMI Navigation Plus can also be equipped with an Audi Connect subscription Internet service that enables the vehicle to be a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot.
Audi offers two option packages for the 2013 A5. The Sport package includes sports seats, sport suspension, and paddle shifters for the automatic transmission. The S-Line package adds 19-inch wheels, unique styling details, brushed aluminum interior trim, and a flat-bottomed steering wheel.
Under the HoodThe only engine offered for the A5 is a direct-injected, turbocharged, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder unit that generates 211 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. coupes have standard Quattro all-wheel drive (AWD) with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Cabriolets provide front-wheel drive (FWD) with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Optional on both models is an 8-speed automatic transmission and Quattro can also be added to the Cabriolet with the automatic transmission.
Fuel EconomyEPA fuel-economy estimates for the 2013 Audi A5 are:
- A5 FWD with CVT: 24/31/26 mpg (city/highway/combined)
- A5 Quattro with manual transmission: 22/32/26 mpg
- A5 Quattro with automatic transmission: 20/30/24 mpg
SafetyThe Audi A5 is equipped with 4-wheel-disc anti-lock brakes with brake assist, traction and stability control, rain-sensing wipers and headlights, and air bags supplying frontal-impact protection, side-impact protection, and knee protection for the driver and front passenger. The A5 coupe also includes 8 side curtain air bags.
Options include rear park-assist sensors, reversing camera, adaptive headlights, and adaptive cruise control.
Neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) had performed crash tests on the 2013 Audi A5 when this article was written.
