Overview

The Acura MDX is a mid-size sport utility vehicle that was first introduced in 2001. Based on the automaker's front-wheel drive unibody platform, the MDX offers a car-like ride combined with an all-wheel drive powertrain. The second-generation MDX, last completely redesigned for 2007, is the current model. After a refresh for the 2010 model year, the 2011 MDX is a carryover from last year.

The MDX is offered as one model, but in several pre-configured trim lines that mix the technology, entertainment, and advance packages and their equipment. The standard MDX arrives with leather upholstery, air conditioning with tri-zone climate control, automatic xenon headlamps, power liftgate, privacy glass, heated front seats, Bluetooth phone connectivity, an eight-speaker audio package, 18-inch wheels, and more. The Technology Package adds a satellite-based navigation system, multi-view rear parking camera, solar-sensing climate control, upgraded leather upholstery, real-time traffic and weather, and more. The Advance Package builds upon the Technology package by adding adaptive suspension, adaptive cruise control, Acura's Collision Mitigating Braking System (CMBS), 19-inch alloy wheels, and more. The Entertainment Package adds a rear-seat entertainment system and heated second row seats.

The Acura MDX is offered with one engine choice, a 3.7-liter, six-cylinder, rated at 300 horsepower. The standard transmission is a six-speed automatic with paddle shifters and Acura's Grade Logic and Shift Hold Control. All-wheel drive is standard. The EPA rates the fuel economy of the 2011 Acura MDX between 16 mpg city and 21 mpg highway.

The 2011 Acura MDX starts with a base price of about $43,500 and tops out with the MDX with Advance and Entertainment Packages, which starts around $55,000.
