2013 Jeep Model Overview

The Jeep Liberty has been cancelled this year, leaving four models in the 2013 Jeep lineup. The Compass and Patriot crossover SUVs are carried over and have slightly better fuel-economy ratings, while the Grand Cherokee and Wrangler receive new special-edition models designed for serious off-roading. Additionally, the Wrangler gets numerous upgrades in what is turning out to be a multi-year improvement plan. Each 2013 Jeep model is available in a configuration designated "Trail Rated," which means it is equipped to traverse the Rubicon Trail.


2013 Jeep Compass
The Jeep Compass is a compact 5-passenger crossover SUV with styling intended to resemble the Grand Cherokee. It is offered with a choice of a 158-horsepower, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine and a 172-horsepower, 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine. Front-wheel drive and a 5-speed manual gearbox are standard. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) is optional, and the Compass can be equipped with one of two 4-wheel-drive systems. The Compass is offered in Sport, Latitude and Limited trim levels.

2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is a 5-passenger SUV available in a wide variety of configurations. Buyers can equip a Grand Cherokee with a 290-horsepower, 3.6-liter V-6 engine; 360-horsepower, 5.7-liter V-8 engine; or a 470-horsepower, 6.4-liter V-8 engine. This Jeep is also offered with a choice of three 4-wheel-drive systems. The model lineup includes Laredo, Limited, Trailhawk, Overland, Overland Summit, and SRT8 trim levels.

What's New:
  • Trailhawk trim with unique styling details, leather seats with suede inserts, slush floor mats, Goodyear Silent Armor tires with Kevlar reinforcement, rock rail body protection, Quadra-Lift air suspension, Selec-Terrain traction control system
  • Trailhawk vehicles with a V-8 engine include Quadra-Drive II and a rear locking differential
  • New Alpine and Vapor special-edition versions of Grand Cherokee SRT8 with Black Vapor Chrome wheels and gloss black exterior trim
  • Standard front park-assist sensors for Overland Summit trim
  • Standard power-folding side mirrors for Overland Summit trim
  • Standard headlight washers for Overland Summit trim


2013 Jeep Patriot
The Jeep Patriot is a compact 5-passenger crossover SUV that shares its platform and powertrains with the Jeep Compass. This model, however, features styling intended to resemble the old Cherokee SUV, combined with the round headlights and familiar 7-slot grille of the Wrangler. The Patriot is sold in Sport, Latitude and Limited trim levels.

2013 Jeep Wrangler
The Jeep Wrangler is designed for traveling off-road, and is sold in 2-door regular- and 4-door extended-length variants, the latter of which is referred to as the Unlimited. A soft convertible top is standard, and the Wrangler can be equipped with an optional hard top. A 285-horsepower, 3.6-liter V-6 engine is standard, paired with a manual or automatic transmission and standard 4-wheel drive. The 2013 Wrangler lineup launches with Sport, Sahara, Moab and Rubicon trim levels.
