New for 2014: Mitsubishi

By: Jeff Youngs, 12/4/2013
2014 Mitsubishi Overview

Though suffering from dismal sales, Mitsubishi continues to fight for its piece of the U.S. auto market. In its arsenal are a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, high safety ratings, and all-new models like the 2014 Mirage, a subcompact car the company hopes will gain attention with an EPA-rated 44 mpg on the highway, desirable standard features, and a low starting price.

The other big news from the company for 2014 is the debut of a redesigned Outlander crossover. Mitsubishi has upgraded this 7-passenger model with new styling, a new chassis, added safety features, and improved fuel economy. The smaller Outlander Sport, which was updated in 2013, offers relatively minor tweaks including a revised audio system and new packages.

Also returning for 2014 are the Lancer and Lancer Evolution sedans, as well as the Lancer Sportback. Upgrades focus on the audio and navigation systems; some trim levels benefit from improved interior materials.

The fully electric i-MiEV will be included in the 2014 Mitsubishi lineup, but information was not available when this article was published.
