Introduction
The 2013 Lincoln MKT is a 3-row crossover SUV designed to carry up to 7 passengers. A midsize model, it competes directly with the 2013 Buick Enclave.

Exterior Features
For 2013, the Lincoln MKT receives a new split-wing grille design, new front bumper, and new wheel designs.

Interior Features
The 2013 MKT is equipped with 6- or 7-passenger seating, with the first two rows of seats wrapped in premium organically tanned Bridge of Weir leather. The seats are bathed in natural light thanks to the crossover SUV's standard panoramic Vista Roof. Reconfigurable LCD screens for the instrumentation and the upgraded Sync with MyLincoln Touch infotainment system are also standard, along with 12-way power front seats. The updated MKT can also be turned into a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot for 2013.

Optional Features
Because all 2013 Lincoln MKT models are equipped with electric steering, Active Park Assist is now available on all models. The MKT's second-row seats can be heated and ventilated, and when equipped with rear bucket seats the SUV offers an available mini-refrigerator. A THX II Certified surround-sound system is also optional.

Under the Hood
A 3.7-liter V-6 engine is standard for the 2013 MKT, now making a projected 303 horsepower, an increase of 35 hp over last year. Lincoln expects 90 percent of MKT buyers to choose the available turbocharged, 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6, which is good for 365 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft. of torque between 1,500 and 5,250 rpm.

EcoBoost-equipped vehicles include a Continuously Controlled Damping suspension and Lincoln Drive Control, the latter featuring Comfort, Normal and Sport driving modes. In addition to adjusting the suspension tuning, Lincoln Drive Control calibrates throttle response, steering-effort levels, and transmission shifts to one of the three modes.

A 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission is standard on the new MKT. Vehicles equipped with EcoBoost also include all-wheel drive (AWD).

Fuel Economy
According to the EPA, the 2013 Lincoln MKT is expected to achieve the following fuel-economy ratings:
  • MKT with 3.7-liter V-6 and front-wheel drive: 17/25/20 mpg (city/hwy/combined)
  • MKT with 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 and AWD: 16/23/18 mpg

Safety
The 2013 Lincoln MKT comes standard with Sync and a limited-time subscription to 911 Assist, which activates when the air bags deploy and a paired cell phone is active inside the vehicle. MyKey programmable technology is also standard, allowing the owner to pre-program speed warnings and limits, stereo volume limits, and other features.

The 2013 MKT is available with new inflatable rear seat belts designed to disperse impact forces and further limit occupant injury. Additionally, the new MKT can be equipped with a new Lane Keeping System, which includes Driver Alert, Lane Keeping Alert, and Lane Keeping Aid technologies. These features join the available blind-spot information, adaptive cruise control with Forward Collision Warning, and Cross Traffic Alert systems.
