Each year, J.D. Power surveys thousands of new- and used-vehicle owners to gather data about the problems experienced with their vehicles. This information is used to help car companies improve their products, and also to help consumers make smart, informed decisions about the models on their new-vehicle consideration lists. Based on the company's predicted reliability data, J.D. Power predicts that the following luxury cars, listed on the pages that follow in alphabetical order, will provide the greatest reliability over time.

2014 Acura TL
Acura makes no changes to the 2014 TL, a midsize luxury sport sedan offering a powerful V-6 engine and available all-wheel drive. This is the final year for the TL, which will be replaced by the new 2015 Acura TLX.

2014 Acura TSX
If you've been waiting for the right time to buy an Acura TSX, this is it. Acura is phasing out the TSX sedan and sport wagon in advance of the new 2015 Acura TLX model's arrival. Acura has made no changes to the 2014 TSX models.

2014 Cadillac CTS Sedan
For 2014, the Cadillac CTS Sedan is completely redesigned and moves up in terms of size and price. Now considered a mid-luxury sport sedan, the CTS is offered with a choice between a turbocharged 4-cylinder, V-6, and a twin-turbocharged V-6 engine. Rear-wheel drive is standard, all-wheel drive is optional, and a new performance-tuned Vsport variant debuts. The CTS Coupe, CTS Sport Wagon, and CTS-V models all continue on the previous-generation platform.

2014 Lexus CT 200h
Built on the same platform and using the same gas-electric hybrid system as the Toyota Prius, the Lexus CT 200h is a 5-door hatchback designed to get excellent gas mileage. For 2014, the CT 200h receives refreshed styling with scratch-resistant paint and is offered in a new F Sport version with a sportier look and revised suspension tuning.

2014 Lexus ES
Few changes are made to the 2014 Lexus ES, which was completely redesigned for the 2013 model year. Siri Eyes Free technology is new, buyers choosing the synthetic NuLuxe leatherette can now get heated and ventilated front seats, and LED fog lights are included for vehicles with HID headlights. The midsize luxury sedan continues to offer a choice between a 3.5-liter V-6 and a gas-electric hybrid powertrain.

2014 Lexus GS
Following a complete redesign for 2013, the Lexus GS midsize luxury sport sedan gains a new 8-speed automatic transmission for rear-drive models, as well as Siri Eyes Free technology. New options include a power trunk opener, full-color for the head-up display, and a rear cross-traffic alert system. The Lexus Night View system is no longer available.

2014 Lexus IS
Completely redesigned for 2014, the Lexus IS Sedan kicks the company's styling up a notch. Available as the IS 250 and IS 350, this entry-level luxury sport sedan is larger and more technologically sophisticated than the car it replaces. For 2014, the IS F performance sedan and IS C convertible models continue on the previous-generation platform.

2014 Lexus LS
After making significant upgrades to the LS for 2013, Lexus adds Siri Eyes Free technology and makes minor adjustments to the 2014 LS model. This flagship sedan is offered in regular-length and extended-length format, with rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. A gas-electric hybrid LS model is also for sale.

2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Sedan
From styling to equipment to technology to what's installed under the hood, the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class lineup is thoroughly revised but not completely redesigned. Buyers choose between gasoline, diesel, and hybrid powertrains, rear-wheel and all-wheel drive, and Luxury, Sport, and performance-tuned AMG model series. If a traditional sedan with a trunk doesn't cut it, try the 7-passenger wagon.
