By: Jeff Youngs, 8/1/2014

In addition to surveying vehicle owners to determine the quality and dependability of new cars, trucks, SUVs, and minivans, J.D. Power also seeks to measure how gratifying the newest models are to own and drive. The annual Automotive Performance, Execution, and Layout (APEAL) Study represents the industry standard in this regard.

The APEAL Study asks people who have owned their new vehicle for at least 90 days about what they like and don't like about their vehicles. From this research, Power Circle Ratings are calculated to visually summarize the findings, providing car shoppers with insight as to which makes and models are the most appealing from a performance and design standpoint, according to the people that own them.
