Based on this information, the company calculates easy-to-understand ratings to help consumers determine which models perform the best in terms of quality, dependability, and more.

On the pages that follow, listed in alphabetical order, you will find those luxury crossovers and SUVs that J.D. Power predicts will perform favorably in terms of reliability.


2014 Acura RDX
Imagine a Honda CR-V with a V-6 engine and lots of upscale features, and you'll understand the 2014 Acura RDX. This luxury compact crossover SUV was redesigned for 2013, and changes to the 2014 RDX are limited to the addition of a new Kona Coffee paint color.


2014 Cadillac Escalade
Entering its final year before a completely redesigned 2015 Escalade goes on sale, this full-size SUV with room for up to 8 occupants is available in a new Midnight Plum exterior color.


2014 Infiniti QX70
As a part of a new naming convention, the previous Infiniti FX crossover SUV has become the Infiniti QX70. Aside from that change, this 5-passenger model receives no updates, continuing with a choice between a V-6 and a V-8 engine with rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.


2014 Lexus GX
It might wear a Lexus badge, but this 7-passenger SUV is designed to get dirty thanks to genuine off-roading capability courtesy of a platform shared with the Toyota 4Runner. For 2014, the Lexus GX is restyled, now featuring the automaker's spindle-style grille. New safety and infotainment systems are available, and Lexus has repackaged the GX model's upgrades. Buyers wishing to avoid leather upholstery can specify synthetic NuLuxe material instead.


2014 Lexus LX
Sitting at the top of the Lexus lineup, the LX is based on the Toyota Land Cruiser and is equipped with the right gear for traveling just about any place at just about any time. Lexus makes no changes to the 2014 LX.


2014 Lexus RX
One of the best-selling luxury models in America, the Lexus RX crossover SUV seats 5 and is available with a 270-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 or a gas-electric hybrid powertrain making a combined 280 horsepower. For 2014, a forward-collision warning system with Pre-Brake technology is included in the SUV's Pre-Collision System, Siri Eyes Free technology is added, and the F Sport variant is offered in an exclusive Ultra White paint color.


2014 Lincoln MKX
Aside from a new Limited Edition package, the 2014 Lincoln MKX carries on without change. This 5-passenger, midsize crossover SUV is based on the Ford Edge and features a 305-horsepower, 3.7-liter V-6 engine that powers the front wheels. All-wheel drive is optional.


2014 Mercedes-Benz G-Class
Following a year in which the legendary G-Class received a significant makeover, Mercedes-Benz makes no changes for the 2014 model year. Buyers with at least $115,000 to spend can choose the G550 model. The G63 AMG version commands a $21,000 premium.


2014 Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class
Sitting at the opposite end of the Mercedes-Benz SUV spectrum from the G-Class, the GLK is a small 5-passenger SUV designed primarily for on-road use. Mercedes made several changes to the GLK for the 2013 model year, so for 2014 it continues in GLK250 BlueTec and GLK350 model series, the former featuring a turbo-diesel 4-cylinder engine and the latter equipped with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine.


2014 Toyota Land Cruiser
Unchanged for the 2014 model year, the Toyota Land Cruiser continues to provide Lexus levels of luxury without the Lexus emblem embedded into the grille. With seating for up to 8 passengers, the Land Cruiser is a genuine off-road SUV sold throughout the world.
