By: Jeff Youngs, 5/13/2014
A redesigned 2015 Volkswagen Golf lineup launches in the United States at the end of the summer, and the automaker has announced further details in advance of the models' arrival in showrooms.

Five different versions of the new 2015 VW Golf will be available: Golf, Golf GTI, Golf R, e-Golf, and Golf SportWagen. All prices listed below include a destination charge of $820, and the 2015 Golf includes free scheduled maintenance for the first 2 years or 24,000 miles of ownership.

2015 Volkswagen Golf Prices
The 2015 Golf will be offered as a 2-door or a 4-door hatchback, with a choice between a 1.8-liter, turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and a 2.0-liter, turbo-diesel 4-cylinder engine. Most versions of the Golf 1.8T have a standard 5-speed manual gearbox. A 6-speed automatic transmission is optional on these, and standard for a couple of trim levels. The Golf TDI is equipped with a standard 6-speed manual gearbox. Volkswagen's 6-speed Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG), a clutch-less automated manual transmission, is an option.

2015 Volkswagen Golf GTI Prices
Volkswagen says the redesigned 2015 GTI is bigger, lighter, faster, and more fuel-efficient than the one it replaces. It officially adopts the name 'Golf GTI,' and is offered as a 2-door hatchback or a 4-door hatchback. A turbocharged, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine is standard, making 210 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. Add the optional Performance package and power output swells to 220 horsepower. A 6-speed manual gearbox is standard, with a DSG optional.

Pricing for the 2015 Golf GTI lineup is as follows:
  • Golf GTI S 2-door: $25,215
  • Golf GTI S 4-door: $25,815

Other 2015 Volkswagen Golf Models
Three additional 2015 Golf models will start arriving toward the end of 2014. First to roll into showrooms will be the new e-Golf, an electric version of the Golf 4-door with an estimated range of 80 miles on a single charge. To help eliminate range anxiety, the worry that an electric car's driver experiences when the battery charge level drops, Volkswagen will include a unique roadside assistance program as standard equipment. Volkswagen will announce how to obtain the new e-Golf closer to the car's on-sale date.

The new Golf R is the most powerful production Golf model ever offered to Volkswagen's North American consumers. Equipped with a 290-horsepower, turbocharged, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, a DSG, and a 4Motion all-wheel-drive system, the new 2015 Golf R will accelerate to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds, according to Volkswagen. This 4-door model goes on sale in the first part of 2015, and VW will announce pricing closer to the car's arrival.

A new Golf SportWagen arrives at about the same time as the Golf R, replacing the Jetta SportWagen. Completely redesigned, and larger inside and out, the new Golf SportWagen offers a standard turbocharged, 1.8-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine or a turbocharged, 2.0-liter diesel engine. Volkswagen will announce prices in advance of the Golf SportWagen's on-sale date.
