2015 Hyundai Elantra Changes Refine Popular Compact Sedan

By: Jeff Youngs, 7/10/2014

One year after Hyundai made significant updates to its popular compact sedan, the 2015 Elantra arrives with numerous refinements intended to make the car even more appealing to consumers. The base SE, mid-level Sport, and luxury-themed Limited trim levels return for 2015, offered in five new colors.

The Elantra SE's optional Preferred Equipment package is renamed the Popular Equipment package, and it adds a new one-touch-up function to the driver's side window. Also new for 2015, if the Elantra is equipped with the Popular Equipment package it can also be optioned with a new Style package. The Style package adds chrome exterior trim, high-intensity discharge headlights with LED accent lighting, aluminum front doorsill trim, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and a power sunroof to the 2015 Elantra SE.

The more powerful Elantra Sport is now available with several features that it lacked in 2014. These features are included in a new Tech package that adds a navigation system with a 7-in. touch-screen display, Blue Link telematics system, and a premium sound system. Blue Link is free for a trial period, and includes features such as automatic collision notification, SOS emergency assistance, stolen-vehicle recovery, and remote access to vehicle functions. Using Blue Link, owners can also establish speed alerts, curfew alerts, and geo-fenced boundary alerts.

For the Elantra Limited, last year's Tech package is renamed the Ultimate package, and the price drops from $2,750 to $2,400 while retaining all of the features it offered last year. Those items include a navigation system, premium sound system, dual-zone automatic climate control with air purification and automatic defogging, power sunroof, and keyless entry with push-button starting.

Hyundai expects the 2015 Elantra to go on sale in the summer of 2014.
