2013 Honda Civic Updated after Just One Year
Starting with the 2013 Civic's styling, the sedan model is redesigned front and rear, while the coupe model continues unchanged. All versions offer new wheel designs for 2013, and Honda offers the Civic in new Kona Coffee Metallic and White Orchid Pearl paint colors.
Inside, the 2013 Civic is equipped with new soft-touch materials for the dashboard and upper door panels. New headliner material, upgraded fabrics, and revised surface textures and panel seams are also installed in the updated Civic. Thicker windshield and side window glass, in conjunction with additional soundproofing materials, aim to make the Civic's cabin quieter. Black carpeting is now standard on all models, and the 2013 Civic is also offered with a new Black interior color.
New standard equipment includes Bluetooth connectivity with streaming audio capability, USB/iPod connection, Pandora Internet radio interface, SMS text messaging capability, and steering wheel radio controls. All Civic models are also equipped with an exterior temperature display, sliding center armrest, and a reversing camera. Models with the optional navigation system have an upgraded multi-view reversing camera for 2013.
Additional safety-related updates include new SmartVent side-impact air bags and a standard rollover sensor for the side-impact air bags. The 2013 Honda Civic Hybrid Sedan can be optioned with new forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning systems.
All Civics have a new Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE II) body structure, which makes greater use of high-strength steel and which Honda says should help the 2013 Civic perform well in the new small overlap frontal-impact crash test administered by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
The ACE II body structure update also helps to improve the 2013 Civic's ride quality, according to Honda. Additionally, the suspension and steering are recalibrated to give the car sharper handling and a more sophisticated ride. Larger front brakes are added to 2013 Civic LX, EX and EX-L models equipped with an automatic transmission.
Along with the refresh, Honda has cancelled the Civic DX model, and the prices of remaining 2013 Civics will increase just $160, with the 2013 LX Sedan starting at $18,165. The updated 2013 Civic Sedan is on sale now, with additional Civic variants arriving at dealerships in December, January and February.
