Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon Recalled for Missing Hood Latches
According to a new recall issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), certain units of the 2010-2012 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon may be missing this secondary hood latch. If the secondary hood latch is missing, the hood could open while the vehicle is underway, obstructing the driver's view and potentially leading to a crash.
The affected vehicles were assembled between November 9, 2009 and August 28, 2012. Chevrolet and GMC dealers will inspect the trucks to determine if the secondary hood latch is present, and if the secondary hood latch is missing, will replace the truck's hood at no cost to the owner.
General Motors expects to start this recall on January 17, 2013. Concerned owners can contact Chevrolet at 1-800-630-2438 or GMC at 1-866-996-9463. The GM recall number is 12319 and the NHTSA Campaign ID Number is 12V594000.
