The most affordable model is the V60 T5 with front-wheel drive, which is equipped with Volvo's new Drive-E powertrain. A turbocharged, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine generates 240 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque, the latter available from 1,500 rpm to 4,800 rpm. An 8-speed automatic transmission with manual shifting capability drives the front wheels, and Volvo claims the car accelerates from zero to 60 mph in 6.1 seconds. The EPA had not finalized fuel-economy figures as this article was written.
To take advantage of the optional Instant Traction AWD system, buyers can choose between two engines. The most affordable model ($37,725 including the destination charge) adds a turbocharged, 2.5-liter 5-cylinder engine making 250 horsepower and 266 lb.-ft. of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Versions equipped with R-Design trim also gain a "T6" designation and have a turbocharged, 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine delivering 325 horsepower and 354 lb.-ft. of torque, as well as a 6-speed automatic transmission equipped with Advanced Quick Shift technology and paddle shifters that help the car reach 60 mph in a claimed 5.4 seconds. This model also benefits from sportier chassis tuning for improved handling, and comes with most equipment as standard. Prices start at $45,225 for the V60 T6 AWD R-Design model.
