2015 Lincoln MKC Crossover to "Change the Way People Think About Lincoln"
By: Jeff Youngs, 11/15/2013
In terms of appearance, the new MKC is clearly related to the MKZ. From the broad split-wing grille design to the full-width LED taillights, the MKC is sculpted to Lincoln's current styling language. A new Approach Detection system activates as the driver approaches the vehicle, illuminating the ground under the front doors while lighting the MKC's door handles to make them easier to find in the dark. The Lincoln MKC is equipped with standard 18-inch aluminum wheels, with 19-inch wheels offered as an option.
Inside, the MKC features leather seats, a MyLincoln Touch infotainment system, push-button transmission design, and more. The optional equipment list is an extensive one, upgrading the SUV with premium leather, genuine wood trim, a surround-sound audio system, and a panoramic glass roof. Available safety systems include a Driver Alertness Monitor, blind-spot information system with cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping system, and Collision Warning with Brake Support. The optional Active Park Assist system includes Park-Out Assist, which helps the driver to exit tight parking situations.
The 2015 Lincoln MKC includes a 240-horsepower, turbocharged, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, 6-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive. An Intelligent All-Wheel-Drive system is optional, and includes a Continuously Controlled Damping suspension with Comfort, Normal, and Sport settings. As an upgrade, the MKC can be fitted with a new 275-horsepower, turbocharged, 2.3-liter 4-cylinder engine.
Lincoln says the new MKC goes on sale in the summer of 2014. For more details, read our 2015 Lincoln MKC preview.
