The Cadillac CTS, Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, and Mazda 3 have been named finalists for the 2014 North American Car of the Year (NACOY) award. Voted on by a group of 48 automotive journalists from the United States and Canada, the NACOY recognizes the most outstanding vehicle of the year based on factors including innovation, design, safety, handling, driver satisfaction, and value for the dollar. Vehicles must be "all new" or "substantially changed" to be considered for the award.

The panel of judges also selected the Acura MDX, Chevrolet Silverado, and Jeep Cherokee as finalists for the 2014 North American Truck/Utility of the Year. The winners of both categories will be announced Monday, January 13, at the 2014 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Last year's winners were the 2013 Cadillac ATS (Car) and the 2013 Ram 1500 (Truck/Utility). The North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year awards were first presented in 1994.
