2014 Audi RS5 Cabriolet Mixes Speed with Sun

Audi offers three layers of performance within its A5 model series: the standard A5 Coupe and Cabriolet, sport-tuned S5 Coupe and Cabriolet, and now, with the introduction of this car, the performance-tuned RS5 Coupe and Cabriolet.

Scheduled to go on sale in the United States by the summer of 2013, the new 2014 Audi RS5 Cabriolet is equipped with a 4.2-liter V-8 engine that peaks at 450 horsepower at 8,250 rpm. Torque output measures 317 lb.-ft. between 4,000 and 6,000 rpm. A 7-speed S-tronic automated manual transmission delivers the power to all four wheels through a modified version of Audi's Quattro all-wheel-drive system.

According to Audi, the new RS5 Cabriolet will accelerate to 60 mph in about 4.8 seconds and achieve a maximum speed of 174 mph. Additional hardware upgrades include a performance suspension that's lowered by 20mm, ventilated disc brakes clamped by 8-piston calipers, and 19-inch aluminum wheels with performance tires. Optional upgrades add a sport exhaust system, dynamic steering, Dynamic Ride Control suspension, carbon ceramic brakes, and 20-inch wheels.

The 2014 RS5 Cabriolet is designed to carry 4 passengers. The fabric convertible top folds down in 15 seconds at speeds up to 31 mph, according to Audi. When the top is dropped, it reduces trunk volume by about 15%, less than competing models with power-retractable hardtops.

A number of options are offered for the RS5 Cabriolet, including several entertainment, information, and safety technologies. Be sure to read our complete preview for all of the details.
