Dodge Expands Blacktop Package to Avenger, Challenger, Charger R/T

11/5/2012
Until now, only the Dodge Charger with a V-6 engine could be equipped with a Blacktop package. For that model, the Blacktop treatment includes 20-inch gloss black aluminum wheels, extra horsepower, transmission Sport mode with paddle shifters, performance suspension, sport seats, premium sound system, gloss black grille with a honeycomb insert, and a rear spoiler.

Now, Dodge has announced that the Blacktop package will be offered on the Dodge Charger R/T models with a V-8 engine, and that the option will also be extended to the Dodge Avenger and the Dodge Challenger R/T.

For the 2013 Dodge Avenger Blacktop edition, the option package will cost $595 and add 18-inch gloss black aluminum wheels, dark-tinted headlight trim, gloss black grille, and a body-color rear spoiler to the Avenger SXT model. For another $400, Avenger Blacktop buyers can add leather seats. A 283-horsepower, 3.6-liter V-6 engine is optional for this model, along with a power sunroof, premium sound system, and a navigation system.

The new 2013 Dodge Challenger R/T Blacktop package adds $1,995 to the price of a Challenger R/T or Challenger R/T Plus. Gloss black 20-inch wheels, gloss black grille, and a gloss black fuel door are included, along with a matte-finish graphite side stripe with red edges. The Challenger's Super Track Pak is also included on this model, adding high-performance steering and braking components, revised shock absorbers, and P245/45R20 Goodyear Eagle F1 Super Car performance tires to the Challenger Blacktop model.

The 2013 Dodge Charger R/T Blacktop edition is outfitted just like the existing Charger Blacktop model, except that it's equipped with the Charger R/T's 370-horsepower, 5.7-liter V-8 engine. The option adds $1,795 to the price of a standard Charger R/T or the R/T Plus model, which also includes leather seats, heated front and rear seats, heated and cooled cup holders, LED cabin lighting, and a 12-way power driver's seat.

Production of the expanded Dodge Blacktop series begins in December of 2012.
