Ram Rumble Bee Returns at Detroit's Woodward Dream Cruise

8/22/2013
Celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the original Ram Rumble Bee, Chrysler Group LLC's Ram truck brand rolled out a new Ram Rumble Bee concept truck at the annual Woodward Dream Cruise held in Detroit.

Starting with a 2013 Ram 1500 R/T with a regular cab and 2-wheel drive, Ram bolted on a Mopar ground-effects kit and coated the conceptual Rumble Bee in matte-finish Drone Yellow paint before applying black stripes and a new "Speed Bee" decal on each rear flank. The concept truck is equipped with 24-inch wheels and tires, a suspension lowered by 2 inches, and a Mopar-sourced tonneau cover.

Inside, the Ram Rumble Bee Concept features leather sport seats in Black and Drone Yellow and Rumble Bee logos on the seats, floor mats, and door panels. The truck's 8-speed automatic transmission is shifted using a rotary dial containing a real amber-encased bee and employing honeycomb illumination.

The Ram Rumble Bee Concept is equipped with a 5.7-liter "Hemi" V-8 engine delivering 395 horsepower and 495 lb.-ft. of torque. A yellow engine cover with a honeycomb pattern is included, a Mopar cold-air intake kit bumps performance, and a Mopar cat-back dual exhaust system features driver-controlled buttons to bypass the system and let the Hemi bellow. The 8-speed automatic transmission is equipped with a 4.10 gear set to maximize acceleration.

Company officials made no statements regarding whether or not the Ram Rumble Bee foretells a production vehicle.
