Recall Roundup: GM, Land Rover Issue Recalls

By: Jeff Youngs, 1/7/2014
During the past week, General Motors and Jaguar Land Rover have issued recalls for, respectively, certain Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks, and certain Land Rover models. Details are below, in alphabetical order by make and model.

2012-2013 Chevrolet Silverado HD, GMC Sierra HD
General Motors is recalling 9,733 model-year 2012-2013 Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD vehicles that are equipped with 6.6-liter diesel engines and dual fuel tanks. In the affected vehicles, the transfer pump that moves fuel from the rear tank to the front tank could malfunction and cause the fuel gauge to indicate an inaccurate reading.

GM will notify owners and dealers will inspect and replace the fuel transfer pump, as necessary, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020 and GMC at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 13420; owners may also reference National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recall campaign ID number 13V615000.

2013-2014 Land Rover Range Rover
Land Rover is recalling 3,912 model-year 2013-2014 Range Rover vehicles. Due to insufficient clearance, the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) connector located in the driver and front passenger side seat of the vehicle may become disconnected, which could prevent the driver and/or passenger seat side air bags from functioning.

Land Rover will notify owners, and dealers will modify, free of charge, the area around the connector to prevent it from becoming disconnected. The recall is expected to begin on January 17, 2014. Customers may contact Land Rover at 1-800-637-6837, Option 9. Land Rover's number for this recall is P037; owners may also reference NHTSA recall campaign ID number 13V607000.
