Mazda Improves Certified Pre-Owned Program

By: Jeff Youngs, 9/9/2013
Mazda has made changes to its certified pre-owned (CPO) used car program, making more models eligible for CPO certification and enhancing customer benefits. The modifications are effective on September 4, 2013.

"Over the last year, sales of certified pre-owned Mazdas have gone up by 40.2 percent and dealer participation has increased by 6 percent," said Ron Stettner, vice president of sales, Mazda North America Operations. "We look to continue this momentum with the additional warranty coverage and model eligibility."

Mazda's CPO program is expanding to include vehicles that are up to 6 years old and which have up to 80,000 miles, an increase over the previous 5-year/60,000-mile limit for eligibility. Additionally, all Mazda CPO vehicles will include a new 12-month/12,000-mile limited no-deductible warranty. For CPO vehicles that are still covered by the original factory warranty, the new 12-month/12,000-mile warranty kicks in when the original warranty expires.

Other aspects of Mazda's CPO program remain in effect. Each car is put through a 150-point inspection, and each comes with a vehicle history report that includes a 3-year buyback guarantee in the event that a CPO Mazda is discovered to have a title branding that the VIN check did not uncover. Mazda also increases the powertrain warranty to 7 years or 100,000 miles, offers 24-hour roadside assistance for the first 12 months or 12,000 miles, and provides a free 3-month trial subscription to satellite radio.
