2014 Fiat 500L Adds Largesse to Cinquecento Family
Tim Kuniskis, head of Fiat Brand North America--Chrysler Group LLC, said: "Those who love the style and performance that only the Italians can create, can now enjoy space for five, functionality, practicality, and value. The Fiat 500L is the whole package, and it now brings its unique flavor to the American market."
Four versions of the Fiat 500L will be offered, including the Trekking model that made its global debut in Los Angeles, and which Fiat calls an "Urban Utility Vehicle."
The 2014 Fiat 500L Trekking is equipped with what Fiat characterizes as "distinct, rugged looks" including redesigned front and rear bumpers, black wheel arch and side sill trim, and 17-inch aluminum wheels.
Inside, the Trekking model's 2-tone black/brown interior is equipped with standard Uconnect 5.0 technology operated using a 5-inch touch screen or voice commands. The system includes Bluetooth hands-free calling, Bluetooth streaming audio capability, and a media connectivity hub. The Uconnect 5.0 system is available on other 500L models, as well as a new Uconnect 6.5 system with a larger 6.5-inch touch screen, navigation system, and an SD card reader. A dual-panel sunroof is also offered for the new 2014 500L.
The same turbocharged, 1.4-liter 4-cylinder engine currently installed in the Fiat 500 Abarth and the Dodge Dart will be standard for all Fiat 500L models. It is rated to generate 160 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft. of torque, and power is transferred to the front wheels through a 6-speed manual or 6-speed dual dry-clutch transmission (DDCT). The 500L also offers eco:Drive technology designed to maximize fuel economy.
Built in Serbia, the 2014 Fiat 500L models go on sale in America in the middle of 2013.
