Scion Announces Pricing and Updates for 2015 FR-S and tC Models

By: Jeff Youngs, 5/22/2014
Fans of the sporty, rear-wheel-drive Scion FR-S can plan on spending just a bit more for the 2015 model when it goes on sale next month. Base prices will climb by $200, resulting in starting prices of $24,900 for versions equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission and an even $26,000 for those featuring a 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters and downshift rev matching. Buyers will be pleased to learn that the bump in MSRP (Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price) reflects key upgrades made to the car, among which are a suspension that Scion says has been retuned to deliver improved handling capabilities, enlarged exhaust tips designed to be better integrated into the rear bumper, an aerodynamic roof-mounted antenna, automatic headlights, and new carbon fiber-esque interior accents. Scion has also revised the FR-S's exterior color palette, dropping Argento and Whiteout to make room for Steel and Halo, the latter a pearl-white paint available for $395.

Joining the tweaked FR-S for its June debut will be the 2015 Scion tC hatchback, which arrives with a few changes of its own, including the introduction of paddle shifters on models fitted with the 6-speed automatic transmission. Here, too, the color chart has been updated somewhat; in lieu of Classic Silver and Super White buyers will have their choice of Cosmic Gray and Blizzard Pearl ($395). Several other hues, with names like Blue Streak Metallic and Cement, have been carried over. Scion has held pricing of tCs equipped with the 6-speed manual to $19,210, but versions featuring the automatic have risen by $150 to $20,360.
