Honda confirmed at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show that its new 2014 Accord Hybrid will go on sale in the summer of 2013, and provided preliminary fuel-economy estimates for the new family size hybrid sedan. According to the automaker, the new Accord Hybrid will get 49 mpg in the city, 45 mpg on the highway, and 47 mpg in combined driving.

The 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid is different from the 2014 Honda Accord Plug-in Hybrid. The Accord Hybrid will be equipped with Honda's new two-motor gas-electric hybrid powertrain and will offer exterior styling much closer to the standard Accord model than the plug-in variant.

Honda also announced that the 2014 Accord Plug-in Hybrid goes on sale on January 15 for $39,780. This model will initially be offered in California and New York.

The Accord Plug-in Hybrid provides a maximum electric driving range of 13 miles. When the battery pack is depleted, the car operates as a gas-electric hybrid delivering 47 mpg in the city, 46 mpg on the highway, and 46 mpg in combined driving. The Accord Plug-in Hybrid's official EPA MPGe rating is 115, higher than the Chevrolet Volt, Ford C-Max Energi, and Toyota Prius Plug-in.
