2014 Range Rover Evoque Receives Significant Updates
For 2014, the Range Rover Evoque's turbocharged, 240-horsepower, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine carries over, but it is now paired with a new 9-speed automatic transmission designed to improve fuel economy and performance while reducing emissions. Thanks to an adaptive shift program, Land Rover claims the transmission exhibits "ultra-fast response time."
The 2014 Evoque also comes with a new, standard Active Driveline on-demand 4-wheel-drive (4WD) system with active front and rear differentials. The Active Driveline system is designed to decouple 4WD when the Evoque is traveling at steady-state speeds above 22 mph in order to reduce driveline drag. The system automatically activates 4WD whenever it is necessary, and Land Rover claims re-engagement takes just 300 milliseconds. Additionally, the Active Driveline system includes Active Torque Biasing for the rear wheels, and a torque-vectoring control system that distributes torque among all four wheels to help counteract understeer.
New technologies for the 2014 Land Rover Evoque include a new Park Exit system that steers the Evoque out of a parallel parking space while the driver operates the pedals, and a new Perpendicular Park system that steers the Evoque into non-parallel parking spaces. Furthermore, Evoque buyers can choose to equip the SUV with a new adaptive cruise control system with Queue Assist, Forward Alert, and Emergency Braking, and with a new Closing Vehicle Sensing and Reverse Traffic Detection system.
The Evoque's changes aren't limited to what's under the vehicle's sheet metal. Subtle exterior styling updates are included for the 2014 Evoque, which has redesigned Land Rover badges. The interior is offered in new colors, and the Evoque receives new aluminum wheel designs for 2014.
