Chevrolet to Build Impala "Classic" through June 2014

12/29/2012
The current Chevrolet Impala debuted for the 2006 model year, a significant update rather than a complete redesign of the Impala offered from 2000 to 2005. During the 8 years since it debuted, the Impala has changed very little, yet remains one of the best-selling models in America, primarily because it is sold to government, business and rental fleets in large quantities.

For 2014, a new Impala arrives in Chevy showrooms, a full-size family sedan based on the same platform as the current Buick LaCrosse and Cadillac XTS. However, the current-generation Impala will continue to be produced through June 2014, according to General Motors.

No details are provided regarding the reason for the old Impala/new Impala model overlap for 2014, but if history is any lesson, the old design will likely be called the Impala Classic and be offered exclusively to the entities already buying it.
