Subaru Announces New Special-Edition BRZ Series.Blue

By: Jeff Youngs, 5/30/2014
Subaru has announced a special limited edition of its sportiest model. The 2015 BRZ Series.Blue will be limited to 1,000 cars in the United States, with a starting MSRP of $29,490, plus a destination charge of $795. The BRZ Series.Blue will introduce various aerodynamic enhancements to improve the car's performance, Subaru says, as well as exclusive interior and exterior styling features. The BRZ Series.Blue will arrive at Subaru dealerships in July, and will be available in WR Blue Pearl or Crystal White Pearl.

Under the hood, the BRZ Series.Blue will feature a 200-horsepower, 2.0-liter boxer engine. The BRZ emphasizes low vehicle weight, an ultra-low center of gravity, and precision steering; the BRZ Series.Blue ups the ante by adding black STI front, side, and side-rear under-spoilers, which Subaru says contribute to additional front downforce. Additional hidden underbody panels will reduce the coefficient of drag (Cd) from 0.28 to 0.27, Subaru says. All BRZ models for 2015 feature new, larger stainless steel exhaust tips and a new shark-fin antenna. Another key styling feature of the BRZ Series.Blue is the highly visible red-finish brake caliper behind the spokes of each black-painted STI-branded alloy wheel.

The BRZ Series.Blue builds on the BRZ Limited model, adding exclusive trim and special details throughout. Its leather and Alcantara upholstery includes blue leather seat bolsters and head restraints. Blue stitching accents the seats and the blue and black leather-wrapped steering wheel, as well as the shift lever boot and leather-wrapped parking brake handle. This blue design theme ties in the center console kneepads and door trim, and an embroidered silver BRZ logo on the front seatbacks provides the finishing touch. Carpeted floor mats also pick up the BRZ logo and blue stitching.
Other interior features include a frameless day/night rearview mirror and simulated carbon fiber center dash panel, plus a red illuminated engine start/stop button with an STI logo.
