2014 Chevy Malibu Will Get Fast-Tracked Updates

12/11/2012
According to a report published by Automotive News, the 2014 Chevrolet Malibu will receive what the publication calls a "mid-cycle refresh" just 18 months after the redesigned 2013 Malibu went on sale. The report credits General Motors CEO Dan Akerson with providing the information.

"We are going to do a mid-cycle enhancement, not dramatic, by this time next year," Akerson told Automotive News, confirming that the 2014 Malibu will receive new front styling. The publication reports that Akerson acknowledges that media reviews of the new Malibu have been "unflattering" and that the refresh is occurring sooner than was planned. Additional updates to the model were not revealed.

Automotive News reports that in September and October, months in which the majority of Malibus sold were the new 2013 model, sales fell 3%, compared with the same period of time last year.

Of the new Malibu, Akerson told Automotive News: "I think it's a good car. It'll do OK. It is a tough segment and it's one we need to be successful in. We'll see how it plays out."
