Honda Recalls 2003-2004 Odyssey, Acura MDX for Air Bag Control Repairs

By: Jeff Youngs, 9/20/2013
Honda has announced that it will recall 318,000 Odyssey minivans from 2003 and 2004 model years, in addition to 56,000 Acura MDX crossovers from the 2003 model year, in order to repair an air bag control unit that could malfunction if exposed to what the company describes as "electrical interference" from computer chips located in the control unit.

Notices will be mailed to owners in late October to bring their vehicle to the dealership to have an electrical noise filter installed near the air bag control unit. There is no charge for the repair, which takes about an hour, according to the automaker.

Honda says that it has not received any reports of vehicle crashes due to unexpected air bag deployment; however, media reports suggest that there have been some such occurrences.
