2014 Chevy SS Price Revealed

The price for the 2014 Chevrolet SS has been officially announced. If you want to park this new rear-drive, 415-horsepower performance sedan in your driveway, it will set you back $44,470, including the $995 destination charge. However, that does not include the gas-guzzler tax, which is yet to be determined. The only options are a power sunroof ($900) and a full-size spare tire ($500). The new 2014 Chevy SS goes on sale in the fourth quarter of 2013.

"The all-new SS is engineered for performance enthusiasts who've been clamoring for a rear-wheel-drive sedan," said Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet Marketing. "Adding the SS to the lineup further solidifies Chevrolet's position as America's best-selling performance-car brand and completes a trifecta that includes the all-new 2014 Corvette Stingray and Camaro Z/28."

Based on Australia's Holden Commodore, the 2014 Chevy SS is equipped with a 6.2-liter small-block V-8 engine dubbed the LS3. The engine is SAE-certified to generate 415 horsepower and 415 lb.-ft. of torque, and is bolted to a 6-speed automatic transmission with shift paddles mounted to the steering wheel. Chevrolet estimates that the new Chevy SS accelerates to 60 mph in 5 seconds flat. Additional performance hardware includes sport-tuned suspension and steering, Brembo braking components, and staggered width 19-inch aluminum wheels wearing 245/40 front and 275/35 rear performance tires.

When the Chevy SS goes on sale, it will be offered in Mystic Green, Silver Ice Metallic, Red Hot 2, Phantom Black Metallic, and Heron White exterior colors with a Jet Black interior.
