At the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, Alfa Romeo is debuting the 2014 4C, a new 2-seat, mid-engine sports car constructed on a carbon fiber chassis and built in a Maserati facility in Modena, Italy. Alfa Romeo plans a limited-production run of both 4C Coupes and 4C Roadsters, and the new car is expected to be the first of several new Alfa models offered to American customers.
"The (Alfa Romeo 4C) will be available for purchase in 2013, marking the return of the Italian brand to the United States and inaugurating Alfa Romeo's global growth plan," said the automaker in a brief press release.
The 2014 Alfa Romeo 4C will be equipped with a turbocharged, direct-injection, 1.75-liter 4-cylinder engine, which is currently installed in the Alfa Romeo Giulietta. In that model, the engine delivers 232 horsepower and 251 lb.-ft. of torque. A 6-speed TCT dual-clutch automated manual gearbox with automatic and manual shift modes, paddle shifters, and a DNA drive-mode selector will be standard. The DNA drive-mode selector will offer All-Weather, Natural, Dynamic, and Race modes. Alfa Romeo promises that drivers will not experience turbo lag with this powertrain.
