2014 Fiat 500L Price Set at Less Than $20,000
"The all-new Fiat 500L (appeals) to customers who like the contemporary Italian style of the Fiat 500 but need more space and functionality to match their lifestyle needs," said Jason Stoicevich, Head of Fiat Brand North America, Chrysler Group LLC. "The Fiat 500L offers the whole package, with best-in-class interior space, class-leading horsepower, exclusive technology features and the style that only Italians can create."
According to the automaker, the new Fiat 500L is 42% larger inside than a standard Fiat 500, simultaneously offering space for 5 passengers and 23.1 cu. ft. of luggage. It's powered by the same turbocharged, 160-horsepower 4-cylinder engine that's installed in the 500 Abarth model, and is sold with a choice between a manual transmission and an automated Dual Dry Clutch Transmission (DDCT) in Pop, Easy, Trekking, and Lounge trim levels.
It is the Fiat 500L Pop with a manual gearbox that costs $19,900, including the $800 destination charge. To get a sense of what that kind of money buys, the Pop model is equipped with air conditioning, power windows, power door locks, cruise control, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, trip computer, and floor mats. The 6-way manually adjustable front seats are wrapped in cloth, while the 60/40-split rear seat offers fore/aft adjustment, seatback recline, and tumble/slide operation. The Fiat 500L Pop rides on 16-inch wheels with chrome-accent wheel covers, and offers buyers a capless fuel filler system, an interior observation mirror that helps to keep tabs on rear-seat occupants, and a Uconnect 5.0 touch-screen audio system with Bluetooth calling and music streaming, text message reader, media hub, and voice recognition.
For an extra $1,195, the Fiat 500L Easy adds aluminum wheels, dark-tinted rear privacy glass, a front center console with an armrest, premium sound system, and upgraded interior materials in the form of premium cloth seats, a vinyl-wrapped dashboard, leather-wrapped shifter, and a unique leather-wrapped steering wheel.
The 500L Trekking equips the vehicle with a more rugged, SUV-like appearance, Fiat says. In addition to larger 17-inch aluminum wheels and fog lights, the Trekking model has lots of Grigio Chiaro (gray) exterior trim and a 2-tone Nero (black) and Marrone (brown) interior treatment. The Trekking treatment commands a $1,000 premium over the 500L Easy model.
At the top of the lineup sits the 500L Lounge, at $24,995 including the destination charge. It is equipped with the DDCT transmission, fog lights, chrome exterior trim, leather seats, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with a compass, and more.
During the 500L's first year of production, all models except the Pop will get a free Premier package worth $1,700. It includes rear park-assist sensors, reversing camera, and a Uconnect 6.5 navigation system with a larger touch screen. Additionally, the 500L will be offered with an optional Beats Audio premium sound system and a dual-pane sunroof.
Fiat says the new Fiat 500L will arrive at dealerships in June of 2013.
