2015 Toyota Camry Ups Ante in Race for Best-Selling Car in America

According to Toyota, the only exterior body panel on the new 2015 Camry that remains the same is the roof. Every other styling element is revised or redesigned, the company says. Longer than before, and sitting on a wider track, the new 2015 Toyota Camry is equipped with standard LED running lights; LED headlights are optional. The Camry SE and the new Camry XSE continue to offer a sportier look than the Camry LE and Camry XLE, featuring a black mesh grille, darker headlight treatment, and unique wheel designs. New paint colors for 2015 include Celestial Silver Metallic and Ruby Flare Pearl.
Toyota says the 2015 Camry is equipped with a more upscale and high-tech interior, but the overall design is familiar. The automaker promises a roomier feel, though, along with greater use of soft-touch materials, satin chrome interior trim, and standard premium cloth upholstery. Leather and Ultrasuede are optional, the latter paired with high-contrast French stitching.
The driver grips a thicker-rimmed steering wheel and faces new instrumentation in the SE, XSE, and XLE versions, which have 3-D Optitron gauges flanking a new 4.2-in. Thin Film Transistor (TFT) color-animated information screen. The 2015 Camry also features a redesigned center console equipped with a covered storage bin forward of the shifter. The bin contains a new USB port, 12-volt charging port, and a wireless smartphone charging pad. New safety options include Lane Departure Alert, adaptive cruise control, pre-collision system, and automatic high-beam headlights.
Beneath the surface, Toyota engineers tightened the Camry's chassis, revised the electric steering and the braking system for better feel and response, and re-tuned the suspension to deliver specific ride and handling improvements for each trim level. Driving enthusiasts may be drawn to the new 2015 Camry XSE for its sportier suspension and steering tuning, as well as its 18-in., 10-spoke machined-face aluminum wheels.
Engineers also wanted to make the Camry quieter, so the door and window seals are redesigned, there's more insulation material in the carpeting, and redesigned side mirrors reduce turbulence.
In addition to the LE, SE, XSE, and XLE trim levels--each equipped with a choice between a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder and a 3.5-liter V-6 engine--the Camry Hybrid models continue for 2015. In addition to Hybrid LE and Hybrid XLE variants, a new Hybrid SE trim level joins the lineup with a sportier look and driving character combined with a high-mileage gas-electric drivetrain.
Toyota says the new 2015 Camry will go on sale in the fall of 2014.
