Neiman Marcus Offers an Aston Martin Fit for a Royal Couple

By: Philly Murtha, 10/16/2013
Neiman Marcus, the upscale retail store group, recently published its annual 2013 Christmas Book that features a selection of luxury gifts that meet nearly everyone's outlandish fantasies--with special attention to lovers of exotic cars.

This year's fantasy holiday car gift is a Seychelle Blue Limited-Edition 2014 Aston Martin Vanquish Volante that is available for a mere $344,500. It's a car fit for a royal couple. England's Prince William and Kate Middleton, now the Duchess of Camrbidge, rode off in a vintage Aston Martin after their fairy-tale wedding.

The sleek and elegant Vanquish Volante that the retailer is offering is one of only 10 in the world, painted in a special blue shade that is a Neiman Marcus exclusive color. Hand-built in Gaydon, England, the 2014 Vanquish Volante has a lightweight carbon fiber shell with structural integrity that enhances safety, performance, and superior handling, according to the catalog description.

A new, naturally aspirated, 6.0-liter V-12 engine powers the car and produces 565 horsepower while delivering 457 lb. ft. of torque to climb fast to 180 mph. The engine is mated with a 6-speed Touchtronic 2 automatic transmission that makes acceleration smooth and responsive. A 3-mode Adaptive Damping System also allows the driver to select ride quality.

With the purchase of every Aston Martin Vanquish Volante, Neiman Marcus will donate $3,000 to its Heart of Neiman Marcus Foundation that provides youth art experiences throughout U.S. communities. Interested consumers can reserve their limited-edition car by calling 1-888-756-0775, beginning at noon EDT on October 23, 2013.

First published in 1926 as a 16-page booklet, the Neiman Marcus Christmas Book was intended as a Christmas card to the store's best customers. Building on tradition through the years, the book has maintained its personal touch while evolving into a legendary source for alluring and mystical gifts and a famous marketing piece for the retailer.

This year's 87th edition offers 500 possible gifts with prices ranging from $12 for a monogrammed mug to as much as $1.5 million for the "His & Hers" Ultimate Outdoor Entertainment System that features a 201-inch outdoor telescoping screen with surround-sound speakers. Also included with this spectacular system are a DirecTV satellite and DVD management system with a built-in movie package featuring up to 300 movies and concerts, and Two Apple mini iPads that serve as "his and her" remotes.

The Neiman Marcus Group includes the Specialty Retail Stores Division that operates 41 Neiman Marcus stores across the United States and two Bergdorf Goodman stores in New York. Also part of the group is the online retailing operation that features Neiman Marcus, Horchow, Bergdorf Goodman, and Last Call brand names.
