Looking for a high-quality new car that also pushes your emotional buttons? Based on the results of the J.D. Power Initial Quality and APEAL (Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout) studies, the following models rank among the best in both worlds, earning an award for both their quality and their overall appeal.

Ford Expedition
The Ford Expedition is a full-size SUV offered in regular- and extended-length body styles. For 2013, Ford leaves well enough alone. Luxury-themed trim levels get extra chrome, new colors are offered, a dual-screen rear-seat entertainment system debuts, and a trailer brake controller is included in a towing package.

Kia Soul
A compact multi-purpose vehicle with a 5-door wagon body, the 2013 Kia Soul receives standard Bluetooth connectivity, new color choices, and redesigned badges. A redesigned Soul arrives for the 2014 model year.

Nissan Frontier
One of the few true small pickups left, the 2013 Nissan Frontier offers improved fuel economy, new colors, and an expanded list of standard and optional equipment. A new Desert Runner model debuts, and a Value Truck package combines equipment useful to Frontier owners who work as hard as they play.

Nissan Quest
Nissan's minivan is unique in that the seats don't fold into the floor, and they cannot be removed. Instead, they simply fold in half like those in an SUV, and there's a covered trunk behind the third-row seat. The result is less maximum cargo space, but this design can make life easier. For 2013, Nissan expands availability of the rear-seat entertainment system, and adds a standard 360-degree AroundView Monitor to the top trim level.

Porsche 911
Redesigned for the 2012 model year, the new Porsche 911 lineup expands for 2013, adding Carrera 4, Carrera 4S, GT3, Turbo, and Turbo S variants. The iconic sports car is sold in coupe or convertible format, with rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.
